The holistic approach is about seeking to heal the entire body, mind and spirit and not just addressing the symptoms but actually getting to the root cause. Getting to the root cause helps to treat but also prevent the recurrence of various health issues including fibroids which is why it’s the best approach for overcoming fibroids and every other health issue in addition to helping prevent various health issues.

Food is a major part of the holistic approach to natural healing because there are many nutrients that many foods contain that can help to promote general health and well-being while also preventing various health issues.

Another benefit of the holistic approach is that it is generally inexpensive compared to conventional treatment approaches which can include surgical procedures such as the very expensive hysterectomy. You just need to be persistent and disciplined about making the necessary changes and even when you slip up every now and again.

In order to treat fibroids, the following 7 foods for shrinking fibroids may be able to get you on your way to freedom from fibroids.

1. Fruits and vegetables

You can never get away from fruits and vegetables. While going vegetarian or vegan may be best since it has been found that those on a plant-based diet are at a reduced risk of developing fibroids and many other diseases and condition, it’s not realistic for a lot of people.

Increasing your intake of fruits and vegetables will still work even when you consume meat products although it will help if you also reduce your consumption of meat products.

Fruits and vegetables are very healing not only because of the vitamins and minerals that they contain but also because of their fiber content which not only helps toxins and waste matter to be removed from your body promptly before they can cause damage, but increased fiber consumption can help eliminate excessive estrogen and help with weight control because fiber fills you up faster which prevents overeating. 2. Flaxseed

Flaxseed contains many fibroid healing properties especially phytoestrogens which can help replace some of the much stronger and more damaging estrogen produced naturally by the body which can help to prevent a state of estrogen dominance which fibroids thrive in.

Flaxseed is also a rich source of fibroid healing essential fatty acids as well as being a rich source of fiber. For more on flaxseed and how to incorporate it into your life, click here.

3. Legumes

Beans and peas contain properties (lignans) which can help to promote hormone balance which is important to shrink fibroids which is why legumes are one of the 7 foods for shrinking fibroids. Legumes are also a rich source of a very important type of fiber (soluble fiber) which causes waste matter and toxins including excessive estrogen to cling to it on its way out of the body.

Legumes also help to turn your body alkaline and not acidic which helps to fight fibroids because fibroids thrive in an acidic environment.

Other legumes that you need to be eating as well are soybeans which in addition to containing the other health benefits of legumes such as beans and peas, also contain phytoestrogens which as mentioned previously can help to prevent estrogen dominance and promote hormone.

Speaking of soybeans, nattokinase which is made from fermented soybeans is fibroid healing. Find out more about natto here.

4. Garlic and onions

These can help to promote gynecological health because they contain antioxidants which prevent free radical damage to health cells all over the body including the pelvic region. Damage from free radicals increases the risk of developing various diseases and conditions. For more on how garlic can actually help shrink fibroids, click here.

5. Cold-water fish

Deep sea cold-water fish such as salmon, sardines, tuna, mackerel, etc, should be an important part of your fibroid healing diet because they are a rich source of essential fatty acids which are anti-inflammatory and can help if you are dealing with fibroids to promote hormone balance.

Be sure that the fish is wild caught and not farm raised unless the farm raised fish you buy does not contain hormones and other chemicals which can increase the risk of fibroids or the worsening of symptoms. When in doubt always ask about the source of the fish and how they are raised.

6. Nongluten grains

Carbohydrates are necessary for energy needed to carry out day-to-day activities but you need to make sure that you choose the right carbs. Carbs are converted into sugar (along with regular sugar in your diet) which is deposited into the blood and removed by insulin and transferred to the various cells in the body.

A high sugar diet can be a problem because it can promote insulin resistance and hormone imbalance so you need to be careful with the type of carbs you eat.

In addition, some people don’t have an enzyme what can convert the gluten found in certain wheat products (barley, oats, rye, etc), so eating grains that don’t contain gluten such as brown rice, wild rice, long grain rice, buckwheat, millet, etc, instead can be more beneficial. These non gluten grains also help turn the body alkaline.

These grains also contain many vitamins and minerals that can help to shrink fibroids but do keep in mind that not everyone is allergic to gluten and all grains including those which contain gluten may not be an issue for you.

To know if you are allergic to gluten, eliminate it from your diet for about a month and see if you feel better. If you notice no changes, you can eat all types of grains as long as they are whole grains which in addition to containing various vitamins and minerals also contain the very important fiber.

Avoid processed grains which cause blood sugar spikes. Whole grains slow down digestion because of the extra work the body has to go through to process these complex carbs which prevents blood sugar spikes which can help to promote hormone balance in addition to preventing insulin resistance which can contribute to developing diabetes.

7. Eggs from free range birds

Eggs can be very healing because they are not only a great source of protein but if they are from organically raised birds, their diet is usually supplemented with essential fatty acids which means that the eggs obtained from these birds will be a great source for omega 3 essential fatty acids needed for promoting optimal health.

  1. Eggs directly feed fibroids and are the worst food for them. They are the most hormone laden food. Scientists keep pathogens alive for years by using egg.

    1. Eggs are great for balancing hormones because they contain vitamins D, B6 and E as well as other nutrients. I mention eggs from free range or better yet “pasture raised” hens which are not fed hormones or antibiotics during production.
